Krapp's Last Tape
In Beckett’s one-act play we meet Krapp, a man in his late sixties. Every year, on his birthday, Krapp records a new tape—a review of the year just gone. But on this occasion—his 69th birthday—he listens back to a tape he recorded years before.
Krapp’s Last Tape, starring Stephen Rea played a sell-out run at Project Arts Centre in Dublin, early in 2024, and the Gaiety Theatre for one week in October.
The design for all promotional material uses the same typeface throughout. There is a movement of text, beginning at one edge, ending at the other, hinting at a spool of tape, and the moments passing in front of Krapp. Contrasting sizes and letter spacing suggest different places in time. One man at different moments; one typeface set differently, each line playing across the frame
